ALTINKUM means ‘golden sand’, and as the name suggests this is a perfect beach resort, with the sand stretching the length of the wide bay. The clear blue waters of the Aegean are ideal for families, and a variety of water sports are available along the beach. As the sun goes down, the resort comes alive with the shoppers bargaining at the stalls, people eating and drinking in the many restaurants and bars. 

The music and dancing goes on until the early hours of the morning. The ancient ruins of the Temple of Apollo lies close by in Didim, only half an hour away, and is well worth a visit, if only to see the snake-adorned head of Medusa.
