KUSADASI is a bustling , cosmopolitan resort yown situated on the north Aegean coastline , approximately 90 kilometres from Izmir , Turkey’s third largest city.Kuþadasý means ‘Bird Island’ and gets its name from a tiny island now linked to the mainland by a causeway. This island is called ‘ Pigeon Island ‘ and on it stands a splendid , stone fortress that has become Kusadasý’s trademark.

From its modest beginning as a little fishing village,Kuþadasý has evolved into a large town mainly due to its popularity with the many cruise liners that use its harbour as a stop-over to visit the magnificent, ancient city of Ephesus (20 minutes away). They come for the shopping too, as Kuþadasý has tremendous variety of shops and a very popular wekly market.

You can either stroll down the broad, paved, pedestrianised boulevards filled with souvenir, leather, jewellery and carpet shops or meander through the Old Quarter with its quaint, narrow, cobbled streets and Ottoman style dwellings which house little gift shops, small restaurants and Turkish bars.

On a clear day it is possible to see the Greek Island of Samos which is just an hour and a half avayby ferry. Day trips to Samos leave daily.

Dinning out offers an extensive assortment of restaurants for those seeking gastronomic delights. From the harbour area to the Old Quarter and along the water-front there is some thing to suit everyone’s taste-buds! Why not spend some time in one of the patisseries sampling a delicious cake and coffee whilst taking in the fabulous view of the sea, palm trees and Pigeon Island. You may even see the Golden Princess (world’s largest cruise ship) glide majestically into port.

If Kuþadasý sparkles by day, then night, positively sizzles. However it has not forgotten that its visitors have different desires and offers at least 3 distinctive ‘atmospheres’ the home-from-home ‘Bar Street’ offering a variety of English and Irish pub-bars playing the latest chart sounds whwre you can dance or party until dawn; the pretty, quaint, courtyards in the Old Quarter where you can relax and enjoy live Turkish music, Turkish pop or jazz; or the casual, sophisticated ‘yachty’ bars along the water-front to the west of the town centre, where you can sit and listen to the sounds of the sea lapping at the sides of the white, dazzling yachts jostling for position in the Marina.
